Water is a miraculous substance. We have a lot of water on the earth, but most we can’t drink. Of all the water on the earth, humans can only drink 3/10 of 1% of it. Over 90% of the fresh water on earth is located in Antarctica, which seems like rather poor planning since no one lives on Antarctica. Roughly 70 percent of an adult’s body is made up of water. And as you and I know, we need fresh, pure water to replenish our precious bodily fluids each day. And we need a fair amount of it. If you allow yourself to feel thirsty, you have already lost over 1% of your bodies total amount of water. What are we to do?
The answer is to carry water around with you constantly. Here in Seattle, half the population seems to be walking around with water bottles. Aluminum bottles are all the rage here now, but many of those bottles are made overseas. The “bottle” to give this holiday season, the final item on my top ten Made in America gift list for 2011, is the Platypus Soft Bottle.
The Platypus Soft Bottle is available in two sizes ( .5 liter and 1 liter), five colors (Grey, Grape, Tangerine, Blueberry and Raspberry) and two styles of cap (Closure Cap and HyperFlow Cap). The Platypus Soft Bottle comes with the Platypus Clean-Taste Guaranteeand it’s made with zero BPA. Best of all, unlike other types of water bottles, when you drain the Platypus Soft Bottle, you just roll it up and put it in your pocket. I am not alone in singing the praises of the Platypus Soft Bottle; Gear Junkie awarded it the 2010 Top Ten Gear of the Year Award.
As you sip your sweet water from your Platypus Soft Bottle, take a moment to reflect on this astonishing fact. The overall amount of water on our planet has remained the same for two billion years. The water you use to fill your Platypus Soft Bottle could contain water molecules that were drunk by Neanderthals. Sadly, they didn’t have any bottles.
